In a great victory for the wedding tourism industry, the Ministry of Tourism, is expected to soon come out with a proposed guideline of wedding tourism/destination wedding/marriage tourism.
The ministry had earlier invited inputs from Rashi Entertainment on the proposed guidelines. Talking about the recommendations, Rajeev Jain, Director, Rashi Entertainment, says, “We have submitted a complete report for all empanelments asking the government to incentivise international weddings coming to India, as well as inter-state weddings. So far, the government has only been facilitating MICE agencies to attend international exhibitions, we want wedding agencies to also be included. The ministry was kind enough to accept all recommendations, how they implement it will soon be seen.”
In a letter addressed to Jain for the inputs received from his company on the guidelines, Jitendra Jadhav, Assistant Director (Niche Tourism Division), MoT, Govt of India, lists out the various points as:
- Five-point agenda to promote wedding tourism internationally
- List of international wedding exhibitions
- Suggestive incentive plan with claim form against international weddings
- Inter-state wedding tourism and suggestive incentive plan with claim form
- List of topmost wedding agencies of India
- List of best publications for global campaign
- Suggestive format of ad campaign
- Eligibility clause along with suggestive registration form for empanelment
- Suggestive questionnaire to conduct a survey about Indian wedding tourism market globally
- List of heritage properties of India (proposed as wedding venues).
With this strategic effort on wedding tourism, finally having seen the light of day, Jain says, “I am confident that this move of the tourism department will help the entire wedding industry to generate more profit in 2021. I dedicate this to our events and wedding industry and all platforms that have promoted wedding business vigorously. The whole wedding industry will benefit from this, every wedding manager who has been working to bring international weddings to India will stand to gain from this. If we get more weddings to our country, it will prove to be beneficial for everyone.”
