With an aim to connect and bring together the Indian film industry and tourist destinations – both domestic and international, the Economic Times TravelWorld is organising Global Cine Tourism Summit 2022 in Mumbai on November 16. The event will be in the shape of a summit cum networking event that will bring together the leading as well as the promising players in the space.
Scheduled to be held at Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach on November 16, the Summit will be a niche event in the film tourism space focused on bringing the destinations, government, film fraternity, and other players on a common platform and engage them in thought provoking discussions, where they can share ideas to drive the growth of film tourism in India and over the world.
The Summit is co-powered by Madhya Pradesh Tourism and Haryana Tourism while Chhattisgarh Tourism is the Associate Partner. The Producers Guild of India is the Knowledge Partner of the Global Cine Tourism Summit.
With an idea to highlight the issues affecting the interests of the film industry, the Summit will provide a platform for film commissions, production houses and international & domestic tourism boards, to promote their locations, incentives and services to the film industry.
Providing a knowledge sharing and networking platform, the Global Cine Tourism Summit will bring together the most popular faces of the Indian film industry interacting with leading state tourism boards and international destinations. Highlighting issues faced by the industry, the Summit will see industry stakeholders brainstorm over topics such as uncovering new foreign attractions and how regional and remote locations can be promoted in India.
Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister of Tourism, Skill & Entrepreneurship and Women & Child Development, Government of Maharashtra will be the Chief Guest at the Summit while Damian Irzyk, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai will be the Guest of Honour.
Noted film maker Ram Madhvani will deliver the inaugural keynote address while the President of the Producers Guild of India, Shibashish Sarkar will be the keynote speaker.
The Global Cine Tourism Summit will also feature speakers such as Neliswa Nkani, Hub Head – Middle East, India and Southeast Asia, South African Tourism, Aashish Singh, CEO, Lyca Productions, Gaurav Gokhale, COO, Endemol Shine India, Naveen Chandra, Founder & CEO, 91 Film Studios, Gaurav Dwivedi, Advisor, Chhattisgarh Tourism and Yuvraj Padole, Deputy Director (Film, Events & Marketing), Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Popular faces of the film and tv industry with the likes of Asit Modi and JD Majethia are also part of the Summit along with presence of The Location Guru, Ramji Natarajan. Award winning filmmakers – Bhaskar Hazarika, Samarth Mahajan and Soumik Sen will also grace the summit in Mumbai.
In India, the film industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country today and one of the largest producers of cinematographic films in the world. According to an EY and PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry report, from being valued at INR 183 billion in the financial year 2020, film tourism has a scope to generate USD billion by 2022 in India. This is because there is potential for up to 1 million film tourists to visit the country by 2022.
