Starscapes to host Astro Camp at Kaza in Spiti Valley & Chandratal from July 10, ET TravelWorld

Astro tourism company Starscapes will host an Astro Camp at Kaza in Spiti Valley and Chandratal, in Himachal Pradesh, from July 10, 2023, to September 9, 2023. Starscapes said its Astro Camp provides a ‘rare opportunity for participants to fully immerse themselves in the wonders of the cosmos and indulge in the offbeat experiences these places offer.’

Kaza in Spiti Valley and Chandratal, with their pristine skies, elevated landscapes, and minimal light pollution, are a heaven for nature lovers. Particularly appealing to astronomy enthusiasts, these destinations have a Bortle scale rating of 1, making them ideal for stargazing.

Commenting on the Astro Camp, Ramashish Ray, Founder and Product Head, Starscapes, said, “The Astro camp offers an opportunity to discover the wonders of nature and mysteries of the universe. It allows participants to connect deeply with the celestial world while exploring their passion for astronomy. With guided tours, sun observations, and engaging STEM workshops, we hope to inspire a deep appreciation for the cosmos and and everything that it has to offer.”

The Astro Camp will feature activities such as celestial show – Guided Tour Across the Night Sky, a 45-minute journey through the night sky, exploring the moon, planets, and stars, Planetary Parade, which includes witnessing the planets heralding the sun at daybreak. The camp includes STEM workshops to engage in hands-on activities like building and launching rockets using materials readily available at home.

The astro camp has been organised in collaboration with Spiti Expedition. The ticket starts at INR 1,000.

The state government has plans to explore the possibility of giving a fillip to lake tourism to empower local community by promoting home stays, street food corners, restaurants, resorts and hotels in close proximity to these artificial water bodies, he said. The chief minister said the state also intends to promote water based attractions such as house boats, cruises, yachts as well as water sports in its reservoirs.
