In a move to boost adventure tourism in Kashmir, the Director for Tourism, Raja Yaqoob Farooq, set off a series of thrilling trekking expeditions on July 10, 2023.
The selected alpine trails for these expeditions include the renowned Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, Tarsar Marsar Trek, as well as Gurez and Boadpathri. These expeditions aim to offer adventurers an unmatched experience amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir, where every step leads to a new thrill, according to the Tourism Department.
Speaking during the launch, Farooq underlined the significance of adventure tourism in enhancing the overall tourist experience in Kashmir. “Adventure tourism is our main focus and we are dedicated to ensure that tourists explore and indulge in thrilling activities while enjoying the natural beauty of Kashmir,” he said.
The launched expeditions comprise a diverse group of professionals and tourists from various parts of India, coming together to embark on the journey. According to the Director Tourism as part of the ongoing initiatives, J&K Tourism is actively promoting 75 new trekking routes and efforts are underway to popularise aero adventures, providing visitors with a wide range of thrilling options to explore the region.
In line with the commitment to preserving the natural environment, the trekkers were also advised to strictly adhere to safety and cleanliness protocols during the launch event, which took place at the Tourist Reception Center, marking the beginning of adventures in Kashmir.
