The state tourism has launched the a bidding game, called Holiday Heist, on WhatsApp, that offer participants the chance to win vacation packages at low prices.

Sustainability takes centrestage at a tour operators’ workshop in Kochi

In a workshop organised by Tourism for Life Kerala and TOFTigers, the tour operators from Kerala and Tamil Nadu gathered to gain insights into sustainable tourism practices and certifications. The workshop provided a fresh perspective on sustainability, going beyond conventional definitions and the session highlighted the importance of incorporating sustainable practices in tourism operations.

Incorporating AI, the tourism board has introduced Maya, its official WhatsApp chatbot, which makes for the platform for the game. According to Kerala Tourism data, Maya has amassed over 1.5 lakh contacts and facilitated more than three lakh active conversations since its launch in March 2022. Every day for 30 days, Maya unveils new tour packages, giving users fresh chances to win their dream Kerala holiday through wise bidding. “We have unleashed Holiday Heist as an innovative tool to redefine tour package promotions, inspiring strategic thinking, creativity, and a spirit of adventure. It’s not just about bidding high; it’s about bidding uniquely low to steal a package,” stated Kerala Tourism Minister, P. A. Mohamed Riyas.

He added that the Holiday Heist marks a historic milestone for tourism departments across the country and provides an interactive way to engage potential visitors.

According to the tourism board, the response to the game has been overwhelming, with over 50,000 bids received since day one. Lucky winners have managed to secure packages worth INR 30,000 for a mere INR five.

To participate in the bidding game, users need to send a Holiday Heist to Maya, select the package of the day, and start bidding.
