It’s a mega cultural event, which will be attended by a large number of tribal-folk artistes. Writers, who represent the ethnic literature that resonates the earthy flavours will also grace the national folk-tribal festival that begins tomorrow in the City of Lakes. Cherry on the cake is that President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the four-day festival at Ravindra Bhawan in the presence of Governor Mangubhai Patel and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“This gigantic platform will open new vistas for litterateurs, artistes, painters, singers and musicians who come from rural background or indigenous tribes and have immense talent,” said principal secretary, culture and tourism, Sheo Shekhar Shukla, who is at the helm of the affairs.
He went on to add, “The event, which is divided in two parts- ‘Utkarsh and Unmesh- is’ being organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi and Sahitya Akademi in association with department of culture, Madhya Pradesh.
The focus is to celebrate the beauty and quintessence of India’s ethnic art and culture. It is an honour for MP to organise this illustrious event, which will see over 800 artistes, writers and poets from 36 states come together. It will be telecast live on various social media platforms to showcase the most beautiful aspects of our culture to people across the country and also those living abroad. There is so much about our folk and tribal roots that remains unravelled; MP is dedicated to unveil this hidden beauty.”Chairperson of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Dr Sandhya Purecha, secretary of Sahitya Akademi, Dr K Shreenivasarao will also be present at the event.
