Travellers in 2024 are prioritising rest and recharge with nature-based therapies. Forest therapy, also known as wilderness therapy or ecotherapy, involves performing lifestyle-enhancing activities in natural surroundings. Wellness retreats that offer a blend of tranquillity, outdoor activities, and holistic wellbeing are in demand. Popular destinations for these nature-based escapes include Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa. Travellers are looking to ditch the hustle culture and embrace the therapeutic benefits of nature.

Sixty-eight percent GenX and 67 percent Baby Boomers will prioritise rest and recharge while planning trips in 2024, as per a report conducted by Hilton and Ipsos, a market research firm.

Rucha Sukhramani, head of sales and marketing at a wellness retreat near Bengaluru, says, “Over the past few years, we’ve noticed a significant shift towards wellness escapes, particularly those centred around nature. Guests are choosing experiences that offer a blend of tranquillity, outdoor activities, and holistic wellbeing to connect with nature.” She also shares that guests are signing up for ayurveda and naturopathy treatments, as well as farm-to-fork modules to enhance their natural wellness experience.
