Movement of all kinds of vehicles around the world heritage, Mahabodhi Mahavihara, will be banned from December 16 to January 20 in view of Tibetan Buddhists’ spiritual leader, the 14th Dalai Lama, arriving on a four-week visit to Bodh Gaya in Bihar, the holiest place for Buddhists across the world.
District magistrate Thiyagarajan SM on December 13 said, “The entry of heavy vehicles from Sujata bypass towards Mahavihara and the Kalachakra ground will be prohibited. From December 29 up to January 3 or any other day when the Dalai Lama will be at Mahavihara or the Kalachakra ground, the entry of all types of vehicles will be restricted from Embassy Mor to Verma Mor, except those having pass issued by the administration.”
Entry of heavy vehicles from Pachhatti Mor will be restricted but these vehicles will be allowed entry towards Sujata Garh. “Vehicles coming from Gaya from river side road will be diverted through Sujata Bypass for Domuhan. Barriers will be placed near Verma Mor, Children’s Park, Embassy Mor, Birla Dharamshala, Pachhatti Mor, near the museum, Moussa Mor, Gate no.- 5 of Kalachakra ground and the Bangladesh monastery.”The space near Sujata Mor and Magadh University campus have been identified for parking, the DM added.
