Tourists planning visits to Netarhat Hills in Latehar can opt to stay at luxurious Swiss cottages.
The state department of tourism is aiming to set up at least 50 luxurious tents at Netarhat hilltop in January and February to draw more visitors. This is a part of the state government’s initiative to organise its proposed “Jharkhand Eco Retreat” festival next month, officials said.
A request for proposal inviting interested companies was floated by the department earlier this month. The bidding for the project is scheduled for December 26.
“As many as 50 luxurious tents will be commissioned in the tent city,” the RFP document, posted on the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) website, reads. The tents will be equipped with all modern amenities equivalent to that of a three-star hotel, the document adds.
Affordable dormitory-style and twin sharing swiss tents were introduced at Netarhat in the 2017-18 financial year. The tariffs ranged from Rs 500-Rs 2,500 per night. The proposed swiss tents are expected to be pricier and would be divided into Rajwari, Darbari, Deluxe, and Premium categories. Each tent can accommodate two to four persons per night.Meanwhile, though luxurious cottage tents are expected to draw more tourists, hotels at Netarhat are packed to the rafters. “JTDC hotels at Netarhat have 100% occupancy while those at Betla, Patratu, and other locations have occupancies ranging between 60 and 100%,” Alok Prasad, the general manager of the JTDC, said.
