In a significant move to bolster Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s “Wed in India” campaign, Betterhalf, wed-tech startup operating matrimony super app, and end-to-end wedding planning company, has announced its nationwide expansion of wedding operations. The initiative aims to counter the growing trend of Indian destination weddings taking place abroad, causing a substantial economic setback.
Betterhalf said it is committed to endorsing pristine wedding destinations in 100 cities across India, generating employment for wedding vendors, and delivering world-class wedding experiences for urban couples.
Inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s successful “Make in India” campaign, the “Wed in India” initiative prompted Betterhalf to proactively address the INR 1 lac crore loss incurred due to destination weddings abroad. Betterhalf’s vision aligns seamlessly with the Prime Minister’s objective of positioning India as a premier destination for weddings.
Taking advantage of its robust AI matchmaking technology, Betterhalf has introduced a “Wedding Ideabook.” This AI-enabled feature empowers customers to choose from a selection of over 10,000 designs in wedding decor, jewelry, photography, and makeup, all with transparent pricing. The company has also launched real-time immersive shoots of wedding venues, enabling customers, including international clients, to virtually explore and select properties from anywhere.

With 10,000 wedding customer inquiries every month, Betterhalf acknowledges the surging demand for destination weddings in India. The company is currently operational in key cities including Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Rajasthan (Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer), Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, and Kerala. Betterhalf plans to add 10 new destination cities by December 2024.In line with its ambitious goals, Betterhalf said it is targeting an annual Gross Order Value of INR 1000 crore by December 2024. The company is set to invest USD 5 million in the year 2023-24, focusing on the launch of wedding tech products, city operations, and marketing of end-to-end wedding planning services to urban Indians. This initiative will also create professional job opportunities for 1000 wedding vendors, with a commitment to upskill and timely disbursement of their service fees.
