Malaysia Airlines forges alliance with Manchester United, Unveils New Routes and A330neo Seating, ET TravelWorld

Malaysia Airlines has solidified a strategic partnership with Manchester United, marking an official collaboration aimed at expanding its global reach and showcasing Malaysian Hospitality to over 1.1 billion football enthusiasts worldwide. This alliance will leverage joint marketing initiatives to elevate brand recognition and uphold the standards of excellence associated with both esteemed brands.

Simultaneously, at the MATTA Fair 2024, Malaysia Airlines revealed plans to introduce services to three exciting destinations: Malé in the Maldives, Da Nang in Vietnam, and Chiang Mai in Thailand. These upcoming routes will bolster connectivity from Kuala Lumpur, reinforcing Malaysia Airlines’ position as a key gateway to Asia and beyond.

The airline is set to inaugurate daily flights to Malé from August 1, 2024, daily flights to Da Nang from September 24, 2024, and five weekly flights to Chiang Mai from August 15, 2024. These additions underscore Malaysia Airlines’ dedication to expanding its footprint in vital markets across South Asia and ASEAN.

In addition to these developments, Malaysia Airlines introduced its innovative A330neo Business Class and Economy Class seats as part of its comprehensive fleet modernisation strategy. The Business Class seats boast the state-of-the-art Collins Aerospace Elevation design, featuring individual privacy doors and wireless charging pods. On the other hand, the Economy Class seats, designed by Recaro, offer enhanced support and amenities to enhance passenger comfort.

Flying to Southeast Asia gets easier with more flights, easy visa rules

Just before the onset of the summer travel season, India and Thailand last week finalised an agreement that will allow airlines to deploy more flights between the two countries. In a meeting in Bangkok, the countries agreed to increase capacity by 14,000 seats per week for both sides which is an increase by 43 per cent.

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, Group Managing Director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), expressed confidence in the airline’s ongoing transformation efforts. “Malaysia Airlines has undergone a chequered journey over the last decade, however through it all, our resilience has remained steadfast. Having stabilised our balance sheet and recording our strongest-ever financial year performance since the past decade, we are now in a stronger position to steer our focus towards accelerating investments into our product and service delivery to elevate the customer experience,” he said.Passengers attending the MATTA Fair can get a firsthand experience of the new A330neo seats at the MAG Arena (Level 3, MITEC, Kuala Lumpur) until March 24, 2024.
