Weddings may be an intimate affair, but the celebration of the occasion surely isn’t! Little wonder then that weddings mean serious business in India. For a glimpse into how the wedding industry has hit the reset button in a pandemic-ridden world, you wouldn’t have to look very far. So what, if you have to take some virtual assistance to make that dream wedding a reality.

Kicking off the first-ever virtual wedding fair, The World of Weddings (TWOW), a three-day experiential event, started today, featuring prominent wedding planners, designers of the likes of Masaba Gupta, Nivedita Sabboo, Ritu Kumar and Archana Kochhar, not to mention bespoke jewellery brands like Forevermark, Farah Khan World, renowned make-up artists, choreographers and celebrity stylists.

Hospitality brands like Hyatt, Minor Group, Shangri-la, Marriott, Sofitel, Bahrain and Aamby Valley as well as tourism boards such as Seychelles, Azerbaijan, Singapore and Thailand are also participating at this virtual wedding fair.

Promising to deliver a wedding event like no other, Manoj Gopalani, Co-Curator, TWOW, says that in a world wrecked by the Covid-19 pandemic, innovation is the need of the hour. And true to Gopalani’s words, virtual events are part of the new normal and will continue to go through iterations to create an experience like no other. However, it was no picnic for Gopalani when he initially broached the idea of a virtual event, “We were initially met with skepticism, especially about putting together an entire wedding fair on a virtual platform. However, our knowledge and experience in the event management and wedding planning space worked to our advantage. Having spent several years in the industry, we were able to not just conceptualise, but make the entire experience come alive for our partners.”

Proud of having gathered together a stellar line-up, Gopalani now says, “Today, The World of Weddings has some of the most reputed brands from fashion, jewellery, hotels, tourism boards, photographers, planners to entertainment; covering the entire spectrum of the wedding industry. We are also overwhelmed with the response from consumers with over 2000+ registrations. We are certain that our partners and visitors will find value and unlock opportunities at the event.”

Engaging panels and one-on-one interactions with some of the biggest names in the industry are surely the highlights of the show, but while on the topic of weddings can entertainment be far behind? Musicians Salim Merchant, Kanika Kapoor, Benny Dayal, Neeti Mohan and many more will also be present to regale the crowd at this one-of-a-kind extravaganza that promises a wedding planning experience like no other.
