JettWings Airways, the latest entrant in the Indian aviation sector, has entered into an exclusive agreement with the Aviation Academy in Belgrade, Serbia, to launch its Cadet Pilot Program, “JettWings Serbia.” This initiative, signed at the Serbian High Commission in New Delhi, underscores the airline company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of highly skilled aviators.

As India, during its G20 presidency, takes a significant leadership role on the global stage, this achievement is unprecedented for an airline from the Northeastern region of India, effectively putting Northeast India on the map of global aviation companies. With this agreement, JettWings Airways aims to establish its own pool of pilots to support the airline’s long-term expansion plans.

The agreement was signed by Sanjay Aditya Singh, CEO & MD of JettWings Airways; Dr Goran Cvijović, CEO of the Aviation Academy of Serbia; and Rajat Ahuja, Director of VR Global, in the presence of His Excellency, Siniša Pavić, Ambassador of The Republic of Serbia in India.

Sanjay Aditya Singh, CEO & MD of JettWings Airways, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to launch our Cadet Pilot Program in collaboration with the Serbian Government, a testament to our unwavering dedication to aviation excellence. This initiative represents a significant stride in our mission to cultivate skilled aviators, providing a high-quality, cost-effective program for Indian nationals who will contribute to the industry’s growth and innovation.”

The Aviation Academy of Serbia, established by the Ministry of Education, Science & Technological Development of Serbia, has received a significant investment of 65 million Euros from the State of Serbia to enhance infrastructure and facilities, primarily to accommodate the growing demand from India. The academy, in operation since 1912, boasts state-of-the-art facilities, cutting-edge technology, and an experienced team of instructors.

Revenue sharing by airports, airlines can help them become eco-friendlier: Study

A study by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow, and the University of Liverpool has found that revenue sharing between airports and airlines can contribute to a more sustainable aviation sector. The study suggests that collaboration between airports and airlines, along with government intervention through taxes, can lead to eco-friendly practices and sustainable growth.

HE Siniša Pavić, Serbian Ambassador to India, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We are delighted to announce the ‘JettWings Serbia – Cadet Pilot Program,’ an exclusive flight training agreement signed between JettWings Airways, VR Global Ltd, and the Aviation Academy of Serbia, which has a global legacy of over 100 years in training pilots and aviation personnel. We will proudly train JettWings Airways pilots.”Dr Sanjive Narain, Chairman of JettWings Airways, emphasised their focus on safety and industry standards, stating, “Through this Cadet Program, we shall place paramount importance on safety, adhering to rigorous industry standards and best practices.”

India, the world’s fastest-growing aviation market and the third-largest globally, is grappling with a severe shortage of pilots, both experienced Captains and First Officers. JettWings Airways aims to train approximately 800 pilots in its modest expansion plan over the next five years, in addition to training an additional 1200 pilots at its Serbian facility to address this national shortage.

Rajat Ahuja, Director of VR Global, highlighted the program’s comprehensive curriculum designed to meet both European and DGCA India regulatory requirements, encompassing theoretical knowledge, practical training, and state-of-the-art equipment. Students enrolled in the JettWings Airways cadet program will benefit from a holistic learning experience, mentorship opportunities with seasoned pilots, and exposure to the airline’s operational environment. The inaugural batch of cadet pilots is set to commence training on November 15, 2023.
