The Oman Tourism Development Company (OMRAN Group) and Santani Wellness Resorts have unveiled a crucial partnership at ITB Berlin 2024, signaling a significant advancement in Oman‘s wellness tourism sector. The collaboration aims to bolster Oman’s position as a leading destination for sustainable tourism while supporting the objectives outlined in the Oman Vision 2040 initiative, which emphasises economic diversification and sustainable development.

The strategic alliance between OMRAN Group and Santani Wellness Resorts will focus on the development and operation of two exclusive wellness resorts situated amidst the tranquil landscapes of Jabal Shams in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate and Dhofar Governorate, boasting a combined total of 182 luxury keys. These resorts, meticulously designed to blend seamlessly with their natural surroundings, will offer guests a sanctuary for transformative wellness experiences, all while upholding the highest standards of sustainability.

Santani, Jabal Shams, will stand as the region’s inaugural Astro-Wellness Resort, introducing guests to tailored programs centered around destressing, rejuvenation, and learning. Drawing inspiration from Santani’s acclaimed wellness philosophy, the resort will offer a multifaceted approach to wellness, encompassing design, sustainability, community engagement, cuisine, and service excellence.

Hashil Al Mahrouqi, CEO, OMRAN Group, affirmed the partnership’s significance in reinforcing Oman’s stature as a premier sustainable tourism destination. He remarked, “By integrating Santani’s globally renowned wellness ethos with Oman’s breathtaking natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage, we are setting new benchmarks for luxury and sustainability in the region.”

The collaboration is poised to yield substantial economic benefits, including job creation, while serving as a blueprint for sustainable development and wellness tourism initiatives in Oman and beyond. The resorts will offer a diverse range of wellness programs tailored to individual needs, covering areas such as stress management, detoxification, yoga, and weight management, with a focus on promoting holistic well-being.

This underscores the company’s growth in the region, where it currently has a diverse portfolio of 160 operating properties across 17 distinct brands. In 2024, Marriott International anticipates opening 14 hotels, following the brand debut of Moxy to South Asia in early January 2024.
